Basketball in Barcelona: Parc de L’Espanya Industrial

The adventure continues, the city of Barcelona is my playground and this week I have found an absolute Gem. Even with cloudy weather and a spot of rain, a dedicated few where still out there putting up shots.

Located in Sants, situated in a park with a beautiful man-made lake, I found a court that sets the standard for my expectations. The floor markings were as clear as day with faded house of hoops logos in the middle of the keys. The court was the most level I have seen yet with a very slight incline heading up to one of the baskets but nothing that would make you have to adjust your game.

The baskets had big solid bases giving good space for landing, unlike the solid poles that’s most baskets have. The nets where in great condition and where made with wire. There weren’t any spring back rims, but the backboards were a good size making these the most regulated baskets I’ve seen so far.

The court is surrounded by trees, so they leave twigs here and there that may cause you to slip but they also shelter half of the court giving you dry spots on days of drizzle or shade when the heat gets too much.

There is a drinking fountain near the court right next to two more baskets which stand side by side with enough space for half court games. These are a lot more like the baskets on the other courts I have visited with chain nets. The space is great for when the sun is out, and the court is packed as there is enough baskets to keep everybody occupied.

This court for me gets a 10 out of 10 as it provides everything you need for a great day of basketball. Anyone visiting Barcelona who is looking for a court to play on I certainly recommend a visit here.

I wonder what other wonders Barcelona is hiding from me? I’m sure I’ll find out all in due time. Until then be safe and I’ll see you out there.
